Monitoring of polluting gases in enclosed environments using WSN

Abstract:

Every day, people spend approximately 90% of their time in closed environments, in which, due to different factors, there may be contaminating gases that are hazardous to health. Therefore, in this work we propose a monitoring system for contaminating gases based on wireless sensor networks for closed environments. The proposed system is capable of detecting several gases and sending preventive alerts to the user. For its evaluation, a prototype was implemented using Arduino to capture the presence of contaminating gases, and then this data is sent to a mobile application based on Blynk. This application generates reports and delivers alerts to users. The results show that the proposed network can work correctly.
