Motor learning and neuroplasticity in chronic pain: A narrative review

Abstract:

Currently, there are several studies that explain the neuronal plasticity events generated in normal and pathological conditions, as well as during the neuro-rehabilitation period. Motor learning plays a major role throughout the process of motor rehabilitation, based on different evaluation techniques, and the vast majority of the results have been reported in people with neurological disorders and in asymptomatic individuals. The present study reviews the concepts and basic principles of motor learning in normal conditions and provides support for the creation of new strategies of motor rehabilitation in chronic musculoskeletal pain disorders.
