Abstract:
Background Greenfield, Monterey County, California, is located in the Salinas valley, which produces some 80% of the lettuce grown in the USA and is noted for its vineyards. Greenfield itself, described as the “Broccoli Capital of the World”, is said to be the fourth fastest growing small city in California, with a population of c. 11,200 at the time of the 2000 census, but over 15,000 in 2009 (est.).
