Multimedia educational software in the visual stimulation of children with cerebral palsy

Abstract:

Information Technology and Communications (TIC) provide an effective means when applied to a specific area, to allow work on the stimulation of children with disabilities. This research aims to describe the principal guidelines for the use of TIC in the area of special education as well as to determine whether children with cerebral palsy receive a benefit from using multimedia educational software with respect to their visual stimulation. Our approach included a set of preliminary remarks to a group of children who attend the Rehabilitation Centre Awakening of Angels of the Province of Chimborazo. This research focused on including children from 10 to 12 years of age with paraplegia and mild cerebral palsy who had the capacity for autonomous ambulation and manipulation of small objects with at least one hand while receiving visual stimulation with a tangible material. The results prove that the use of multimedia educational software in visual stimulation was beneficial, and the software provides several advantages.
