NURSING INTERVENTIONS IN ACUTE HYPOXIC ISCHEMIC ENCEPHALOPATHY DUE TO NEONATAL ASPHYXIA

Abstract:

Perinatal asphyxia is considered as Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy (HIE) and is a cause of morbimortality. The objective was to elaborate and apply a nursing care plan for neonates diagnosed and attended at Hospital General Ambato. The methodology used was qualitative-quantitative with a non-experimental, investigative and descriptive design; clinical histories were reviewed and a questionnaire with closed questions was applied to the nurses of the service. Results: Preterm births predominated; the main risk factors were nulliparity and low birth weight and nursing interventions directed to patients with hypoxemia encephalopathy due to perinatal asphyxia were unified. Conclusions: A nursing care plan was elaborated taking into account the stages that regulate the development of the Nursing Care Process (PAE), which besides helping to enrich and promote scientific research contributed to homogenize professional practice, improve quality and provide continuity of care through the independent activities of the nurse.
