Neotectonics of the Amazonian Piedmont of the central Andes, Peru, San Ramon
Abstract:
On the eastern slope of the eastern Andes, central Peru, the Amazonian piedmont is clearly marked by the deposition of a conglomeratic apron (the Canon formation) in a steep paleotopography of probably early Pliocene age (the San Ramon Basin). The formation of Canon was faulted during a NE-SW shortening, and overthrusted by the Mesozoic rocks of the eastern cordillera along the western flexured edge of the San Ramon Basin. A piedmont of alluvial cone was formed by the following erosion during early Quaternary. -English summary
