New records and review of the distribution of Coryphospingus cucullatus (Thraupidae) in Ecuador

Abstract:

We analyzed the distribution of Coryphospingus cucullatus (Thraupidae) in Ecuador. We gathered and ordered published and unpublished data from different sources in order to establish a chronology of records, whose results suggests that the specie has extended its distribution range over 300 km from southeast to northeast during the last three decades. These findings document one of the most important range extensions for a resident bird in Ecuador.
