Non-standard neutrino interactions - future bounds and models
Abstract:
We present the simulation results on the sensitivity reach to the non-standard interactions in a future neutrino factory experiment and discuss possible models for large non-standard interactions (NSI) from the standard model (SM) perspective. Taking into account the constraints from four charged lepton interactions, electroweak precision data, lepton universality, and the non-unitarity of the lepton mixing matrix, we find that large non-standard neutrino interactions from dimension eight operators are phenomenologically allowed in all flavour channels and show that at least two new mediator particles are required. The new couplings must obey general cancellation conditions both at the dimension six and eight levels, which result from expressing the operators obtained from the mediator analysis in terms of a complete basis of operators. © 2009 Elsevier B.V.
