Nursing management in hands-only cardiopulmonary resuscitation
Abstract:
Despite scientific and technological advances in recent decades, sudden death and cardiorespiratory arrest have become a public health problem, due to high mortality rates, which is why it is necessary to empower the population in resuscitation techniques for this. An educational intervention was developed at the Instituto Tecnológico de Capacitación América, on cardiopulmonary resuscitation only with the hands. In this quasi-experimental research with a quantitative approach, descriptive-correlational-comparative and crosssectional design, a survey of 20 questions was applied, which considered sociodemographic variables, and knowledge variables in pre and post-training, without registering personal identification data. Descriptive analysis was carried out using frequencies, percentages, measures of central tendency, with tests such as Shapiro Wilk, Student’s t-test for related samples, whose study population was 75 people, of which 12% were men and 88% women. After the analysis, a positive impact on the knowledge of the population studied was obtained (p<0.001), showing that a person with little training improves their performance before a victim of cardiac arrest after an educational intervention, based on these results a pertinent recommendation is to execute permanent training programs where the population reinforces skills in caring for victims of cardiac arrest.
