OVJESMO Methodology: Data Collected for Forensic Analysis in Hard Disk Drives Applying the ISO / IEC Standard

Abstract:

The present research designed or a methodology for handling digital evidence contained in storage units, with emphasis on hard drives, applying ISO 27037. The methodology proposed consists of six phases that include: the location, the assurance of the scene of the events, the identification, collection, preservation and analysis of the digital evidence. As conclusions of the study the proposed methodology allows to improve the quality of digital evidence to be admitted in judicial proceedings due to compliance with the principles of relevance, reliability and sufficiency.
