Occupational risk factors in childhood, adolescence and pregnancy
Abstract:
Labor exploitation is one of the phenomena that afflict humanity. Ecuadorian society is not exempt from this suffering. Children, adoles-cents, and pregnant women are the most affected by occupational risk factors. Among the most predominant causes are poverty, school dropouts and non-compliance with the regulations that govern work. The Ecuadorian State has legislated the process, although it should be noted that there are problems that prevent its eradication. This article is linked to children, adolescents, pregnancy, and work, providing concepts of both categories to determine the causes, effects and risk factors where regulatory and control entities lack effectiveness in suppressing exploitation in the workplace. To this end, not only has Ecuadorian legislation been consulted, but also the international trend has been assessed regarding the legal treatment and practical behavior of what is currently known as child labor and occupational risks in pregnancy. Among the methods used for data processing are the General Method of Problem Solving, the brainstorm technique, the field-force method, and the Ishikawa diagram.
