On the Hamaker function of polystyrene model colloids

Abstract:

The Hamaker constant of cationic polystyrene/alcohol-water dispersions, calculated by using the DLVO theory, increases with decreasing critical coagulation concentration, in contrast with the theoretical predictions. The inclusion of the electrolyte-dependent zero frequency term, supplied by the Lifshitz theory, eliminates this anomalous behaviour. © 1994.
