On the stability of polystyrene latexes

Abstract:

In order to justify the high ζ-potential of the positively charged polystyrene particles in aqueous dispersions of alcohol at the critical coagulation concentration (ccc), the Hydrophobic and steric interaction between particles has been studied. On the other hand, a study of the correlation between the diffuse potential and the double layer thickness with the coagulation rate constants has been made. A parallelism between those relationships and the rapid coagulation constant-liquid composition dependence has been indicated.
