On the use of characteristic modes to describe patch antenna performance

Abstract:

Characteristic models and their associated eigenvalues were obtained from the symmetric generalized impedance matrix of the structure. The Galerkin Method of Moments formulation was applied for computing the generalized impedance matrix of patches suspended on air above a perfect ground plane.
