On-line job planning in a ceramic factory using A.I. Techniques
Abstract:
The work reported in this paper deals with the application of Expert Systems (ES) approach to the planning of a set of activities related to the manufacturing of ceramic pieces. The hugh amount of data together with the constraint of quick rescheduling under offhand events, lead to a hierarchical knowledge base structure, the data being shared by the partial knowledge sources by means of a common blackboard. The end user interface, developed in Smalltalk, allows a friendly system use.
