Optimal Voltage Control in Distribution Network.
Abstract:
The equipment connected to the distribution network is becoming more diversified as Distributed Generation (DG), small energy storage, smart meters and control algorithms for voltage and VAR control. This could cause operational problems to the distribution network, including: 1) Over-voltage on the distribution feeder (loss of voltage regulation); 2) Increased short-circuit currents and 3) Incorrect operation of control equipment that may lead to an increase in the number of operations or to further aggravation of problems by affecting more equipment and more customers. This paper proposes to maintain a stable voltage throughout the distribution network using a new technique of optimal voltage control and optimization (Pareto Optimal) which is capable of coordinating the different areas of the distribution network including all sources of active and reactive power present in the distribution network.
