Optimization of Weight-Volume in Impedance Network SiC Converter for Electric Motorcycle
Abstract:
The SiC based on switching devices provides significant performance improvements in many aspects, including lower power dissipation, higher operating temperatures and faster switching compared with conventional Si devices. The use of these devices could improve the efficiency in power converter and relation of weight-volume in the impedance source networks. This paper presents the analysis of relation of weight-volume of a Quasi Z power converter topology with SiC devices for applications in electric motorcycle. The proposed analysis shows a methodology to optimize the relation of weight-volume in the design of passive elements. The switching frequency of the devices is 100 KHz. To validate the methodology proposed the results are compared with a Quasi-Z converter topology with Si devices to low frequency (20 kHz). Finally, the converter prototype is implemented to justify and validate the methodology proposed and an efficiency study is presented.
