Optimization of the Economic Dispatch of a Hybrid Renewable Energy System Using CPLEX

Abstract:

Currently the uncertainty of renewable energy and demand response has become one of the main problems in the shipments of hybrid energy systems. To optimize dispatch, different probability distribution functions and the load model with which it is associated are usually established. The different hypotheses on how to obtain the optimal solution for the energy system. For this problem, this article proposes to optimize the economic cost of a hybrid energy system using the GAMS computer tool. As a first approach, we have a power plant (thermal/photovoltaic) which has a total cost that represents a high economic impact. In second place, we have the application of the CPLEX solver whose main objective is to carry out an improvement to the plant, considering the capacity of generators and the respective restrictions within the objective function. Third, we emphasize the importance of improving an energy system, given the relevance that these have over the years. We emphasize the importance of improving an energy system, given the relevance that these have over the years. The applied algorithm analysis and resolution methodology allowed to improve economically through simulations, concluding with a result of Total Cost (TC) = 5.4037 × 104, which verifies the validity of the decision making used for this problem.
