Optimum deployment of RSU for efficient communications multi-hop from vehicle to infrastructure on VANET

Abstract:

This paper presents an optimal deployment of the Vehicular Ad Hoc Network (VANET) Infrastructure for achieve an ideal Multi-hop communications environment between vehicles and Road Side Units (RSU). Our first aim of this work is to minimize the number of the RSUs in a planning area without losing communications and then access almost all capacity of the infrastructure. The optimal dimensioning of the RSUs leads us to a second aim which it is the access to the vehicular communications, either directly vehicle to vehicle (V2V) or by jumping (Multi-hops) toward the required destination vehicle to infrastructure (V2I). The number of hops, distances between vehicles and the nearest infrastructure are considered and reaching to the vehicles without initial coverage. Also the analysis of the coverage, capacity and interference in the infrastructure allows us to obtain metrics of direct connections or by hops to the RSU at any given time.
