Abstract:
There is a relationship between occlusal disorders and the loss of functionality of the stomatognathic system and different pathologies can be observed in the oral cavity, which is why an interrelation of the different specialties of dentistry is more and more necessary. The purpose of this clinical case is to present a treatment option for a patient with a skeletal class III malocclusion, with severe dental attriction, periodontal disease, partial edentulous, loss of the vertical dimension, for which the main objective was to restore the mechanics, functionality and esthetics of her oral cavity. The treatment plan consisted of root extractions, treatment of periodontal disease, dental restorations. A first rehabilitative phase where the TMJ was de-programmed by means of a provisional acrylic removable prosthesis elaborated with the help of Jig de Lucia to correct the malocclusion and a second rehabilitative phase in which pure porcelain crowns were made in anterior teeth whose carving had the purpose of uncrossing the anterior bite and the elaboration of a removable partial prosthesis superior chrome-cobalt to return all the functionality and esthetics. The results of this treatment were pleasant and accepted by the patient since it was possible to return an adequate occlusal scheme.
