Organizational Climate and Its Importance for Organizational Success: A Literature Review
Abstract:
History demonstrates the great importance of the organizational climate to achieve employee satisfaction and long-term organizational success. The main objective of this work is to review the dimensions used to measure the organizational climate in scientific studies published in the last decade and to propose. The methodology used is based on an exhaustive bibliographic search strategy in recognizable scientific databases using as keywords: organizational climate, work environment, work environment, job satisfaction, organizational culture, leadership, motivation and organizational commitment; and subsequently an analysis of published and selected scientific documents that met the inclusion criteria: non-experimental and transactional studies between 2010 and 2019 whose main objective is to measure the organizational climate. As a result of this study, 82 documents were analyzed, with 39 scientific documents selected for meeting the inclusion criteria, highlighting with 32% the tendency of researchers to develop their own questionnaire to measure the organizational climate, based on recognized authors: Litwing and Stringer, Campbell et al., Likert, Koys and DeCottis and Sonia Palma Carrillo. In conclusion, 9 dimensions are proposed for the measurement of the organizational climate, which are: interpersonal relationships, motivation, leadership, autonomy, support, physical conditions, conformity to work, commitment and innovation.
