Out of plane vibrations of thin-walled curved beams considering shear flexibility
Abstract:
A simple finite element model is proposed for analyzing out-of-plane vibration of thin-walled curved beams, with open and closed sections. The model takes into account the shear flexibility of the beams. The model may be considered a generalization of the straight beam element model presented in an earlier article by the authors. Using the new model, the first six frequencies of vibration of curved beams with several boundary conditions are calculated to show the influence of the shear deformability on the dynamics of the beam.
