P2462Prediction of 30-day heart failure readmission and death with early post-discharge ST2 and NT-proBNP
Abstract:
Background: Heart failure (HF) is associated with a high rate of readmissions within 30 days post-discharge. This figure is even higher in the old and co-morbid patients, mainly affected from HFpEF. Attempts to predict short-term outcome in such population have not been particularly successful. Data on biomarkers in such special population are scarce. Purpose: To assess the usefulness for predicting 30-day outcome of early post-discharge blood levels of ST2 and NTproBNP in a very old and co-morbid HF population. Methods: Blood sample were obtained at first visit in the specific HF-Clinic shortly after discharge from a HF-related hospitalization (mean 4.9±2 days). HF-related rehospitalization and the composite end-point all-cause mortality, or HF-related rehospitalization were the primary end-points.
