PHYSICAL VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN: A VIEW FROM THE SANTO DOMINGO CANTON IN ECUADOR DURING THE LAST THREE YEARS


Abstract:

The present investigation focuses on physical violence against women, manifesting itself inside and outside the home, which has caused permanent damage and death in the victims. The arguments that led to a diagnosis of physical violence against women in the Santo Domingo canton were used to verify the increase in violence in homes and identify the main causes and consequences of this social problem different research methods such as interview, direct observation, synthesis, and induc-tion. The historical method allowed knowing events that occurred previously. In conclusion, through the statistics obtained and the interviews carried out with different prosecutors of the city, in the last triennium physical violence against women, whether they suffer: injuries, bruises, fractures, psychological damage, femicides, it was possible to establish that, In this city of Santo Domingo, in the years 2015, 2016 and 2017, a total of 293 complaints were made, 94, 91 and 86 in the respective years, with a percentage of 71% of consummated cases. The main cause that was identified was poverty and economic dependence, although other factors such as alcoholism and ignorance on the part of the victim influence.
