PID control with fuzzy adaptation of a metallurgical furnace

Abstract:

In this chapter a control strategy based on a combination of local PID con-trollers whose contribution is adjusted by means of fuzzy techniques is presented. The final control action is the result of a fuzzy interpolation of the control action computed by the local controllers. The proposed control structure is applied to control the temperature in a metallurgical furnace from which several local models have been experimentally obtained. © 2008 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
