POLARIZATION CURVES IN VERY THIN ELECTROLYTE LAYERS
Abstract:
Describes an electrochemical atmospheric corrosion monitor (EACM) which enables the plotting of polarization curves representative of the atmospheric corrosion phenomenon. The experimental curves found with the EACM, where a central metal foil is insulated so that is acts as a reference electrode, are in very good agreement with those obtained for the same conditions with a classical saturated calomel electrode, as reference. Furthermore, the polarization resistance derived from DC technique fits with the charge transfer resistance from AC impedance data.
