PROPOSAL OF AN ELECTRIC TECHNICAL MODEL FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF EFFICIENCY AND ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY IN SHRIMP PRODUCTION
Abstract:
Ecuador's shrimp sector usually has average efficiency and sustainability due to the pumping system and its energy source. Shrimpers have large expands of land requiring high power pumps, which leads to high fossil fuel (diesel) consumption. CO2 emission rate of 3696 tons per year is obtained, attributed to the pumping system oversized, representing 7.82% of total CO2 emitted by shrimp factories. This fact allows proposing a technical model improving shrimp production efficiency and environmental sustainability by using photovoltaic panels. This research adapts a model that covers Ecuadorian shrimp sector regulations and realities considering 200 and 270 HP pumps and engines respectively, with approximately 14 hours operating time per day, requiring installing 3220 solar panels and 55 batteries. The installation required area for photovoltaic modules is 0.95 Ha. The result obtained priories renewable …
