Panlar consensus on hip osteoarthritis
Abstract:
Purpose: The OA is the most common rheumatic disease (in the general population 0, 5 to 36%; its prevalence increases with age; affects both sexes equally but the symptoms occur at a much earlier age and are more severe in women); especially OA of knees and hips is the leading cause of disability among chronic diseases affecting and the second most common cause of work disability after cardiovascular disease and OA incurs direct and indirect costs that have a major impact on the world economy and health systems. Latin America (LA) is a heterogeneous region made up of different populations, cultures, latitudes, altitudes, and immigrants from different areas and ethnic groups. The prevalence of OA in LA is partially know (ranges from 2.3% to 20.4%).
