Paradoxial response and development of intracranial tuberculomas during therapy for tuberculousmeningitis: Report of six cases
Abstract:
The development or growth of cerebellar tuberculomas in the first weeks following the start of antituberculous treatment is a complication that may arise in some patients with tuberculous meningitis. These lesions usually respond to treatment with antituberculous drugs, with surgery being reserved for those cases that do not respond well to treatment. Immunological mechanisms have been proposed to explain the pathogenesis of these lesions. We present six patients included in the tuberculous meningitis protocol of the Neurology Service of the Eugenio Espejo Hospital who presented this complication.
