Parameter estimation of a three-phase induction motor from direct starting stator transient measurements
Abstract:
This paper presents two methods for estimating the electrical parameters of the equivalent circuit of a 2-hp, three-phase, squirrel cage induction motor from direct starting voltage and transient current measurements. The first method is the application of conventional tests under the IEEE Std. 112. The second method is based on nonlinear optimization techniques using the MATLAB/Simulink parameter estimation toolbox. The performance of the methods for the determination of the electrical parameters is demonstrated by simulation and measured signals. All tests were performed in the Electric Machines Laboratory of the National Polytechnic School.
