Participation of actors in local development in rural settings


Abstract:

The objective of this research work is the degree of participation of local actors in local development processes in the rural communities of the Huayna Pasto Grande Basin of the Municipality of Soracachi, Bolivia. The methodology contemplates a level of explanatory research, based on a field study through a survey carried out in nine communities of the Basin. The results show that local development in rural communities depends to a large extent on the participation of local actors and organizations, such as the Autonomous Municipal Government, local organizations, the church, trade unions, educational institutions, health centers, Non-Governmental Organizations, producers, associations and the population; in planning, management and action in the means and processes of development. Thus, the research concludes that there is a high degree of participation of local actors in social and productive projects, in addition to the participation of the population, leads to the identification of new scenarios and spaces for local development; which are the actors and agents of development that determine the modes of production, the development process and the well-being of the community in a rural environment.
