Abstract:
The Project “El Rosario: Sustainable Housing units:”, it is a massive housing project for middle class people, that is develop in the city of Ambato, in the citadel España, at the current site of the “Rosario” farmhouse. The project’s approach is the implementation of active and passive sustainable principles, allowing better quality of life inside the housing, and reduces the impact generated by the building construction and the daily lives of the occupants. In the same way, this project seeks housing conditions created inside insure income for natural lighting and ventilation, and with the uses of appropriate construction materials, such as brick and concrete create better thermal conditions inside. Among the sustainable principles, this project also seeks to promote the use of alternative energy systems, such as solar energy obtained through photovoltaic cells, which provide enough energy for the housing units, and even produces a surplus that can be returned to the city. Moreover, this project also tries to maintain the green space by 100%, through the creation of green areas like gardens, courtyards, green streets ad avenues, and also the application of green roofs to complement the building space on ground floor.
