Pedagogical leadership and academic performance in students of the descriptive research course in the nursing career at the regional autonomous university of los andes-ecuador
Abstract:
Educational leaders manage and lead organizations and their influence is increasing; in fact, the relevance of the role of pedagogicaleadership in school improvement, teacher effectiveness and student learning is recognized. The general objective of this work is to demonstrate the relationship between pedagogical leadership and academic performance in the course of descriptive research in students of the Nursing Career at the Universidad Regional Autónoma de Los Andes, Ecuador. Five dimensions of pedagogical leadership that have a significant impact on student learning are identified: setting goals and expectations; strategic use of resources; planning, coordination and evaluation of teaching and curriculum; promotion and participation in learning and teacher development; and ensuring an orderly and supportive environment. The type of research is substantive, with a descriptive level and correlational design. The sample obtained consisted of 28 teachers who were administered the questionnaire on pedagogical leadership. Then, the grades obtained by the 52 students othe Descriptive Research course of the Nursing Career were analyzed, according to the evaluation forms developed in the course. Among the main results, it was found that the dimensions of pedagogical leadership that require more attention are the use of strategic resources and goal setting.
