Perceived stress in women candidates for assisted human reproduction and their partners
Abstract:
Objective: To know whether women candidates for in vitro fertilization have higher levels of stress than their male partners and to find differences by gender on perceived stress. Material and method: This study was performed to examine characteristics of response to a perceived stress questionnaire in a group of 43 women candidates for in vitro fertilization comparing them with most frequent answers made by their partners. Results: Small differences between stress levels in women than in their partners were found. Women select different sources of stress that their male partners did. Conclusions: Finding out the sources of stress in candidate couples for in vitro fertilization will improve psychological interventions during these assisted reproductive treatments.
