Perceptions about self-care adherence from nursing for patients with diabetes mellitus

Abstract:

The present research is conceived under the ethnographic qualitative approach, the objective being to adherence describe for self-care that Type II Diabetes Mellitus patients of the Centro de Antención de Enfermería of the Universidad de Guayaquil possess, for which purpose they proceeded to perform an interview recorded to 60 patients. The data analysis was done by means of a categorization, giving as positive results that patients know and perform self-care measures to prevent complications and improve their life quality, concluding that patients are empowered to disease control. From the view negative point, it determined lack of economic resources and family support in aspects such as nutrition for disease individual treatment, aspects that should be treated from the community and the spiritual and professional action from Centro de Atención de Enfermería.
