Percutaneous management of inferior epigastric artery injury after cardiac catheterization
Abstract:
Inferior epigastric artery injury after cardiac catheterization and percutaneous coronary intervention is sporadically reported in the literature, yet it is a serious complication that can lead to life‐threatening retroperitoneal hemorrhage and poor clinical outcomes after percutaneous coronary intervention. We present two cases of inferior epigastric artery injury from inadvertent puncture during cardiac catheterization and a discussion in the management and prevention of this potentially fatal complication. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
