Perfomance neuropsychological of university students consumers of alcohol: According to the degree of dependence on the substance
Abstract:
Alcohol is a substance that has generated a high impact on public health and cognitive damage. The objective is to describe the differences in the cognitive performance of university students according to the degree of alcohol consumption. Therefore, a descriptive-comparative, cross-sectional study was carried out with 43 university students divided into three groups according to the consumption pattern. The AUDIT and a neuropsychological protocol were implemented. There were no statistically significant differences between the different levels of consumption in the population of young adults, with the exception of working memory in the execution of the sub-test of progressive digits, where better performance is evident in the abstemious students, by such motive is suggested in future investigations to evaluate with ecological validity tests to denote changes in their daily lives.
