Performance Analysis of a Mobile Ad-Hoc Network (MANET) Under IEEE 802.11n and IEEE 802.11ac Standards Using NS-2 Simulation Tool
Abstract:
The growth of mobile users and the type of multimedia data that are transmitted over a wireless network, has led to the proposal of new standards to provide higher transmission rates, either for the use of wireless applications such as file transfer, high quality videos and downloading data on mobile phones. The IEEE, as a result of extensive effort and work, presents as an improvement of its predecessor, the 802.11n and 802.11ac standards. The present work is focused on analyzing the performance of the parameters: throughput, delay, packet loss and jitter in a Mobile Ad Hoc network (MANET) under IEEE 802.11n and IEEE 802.11ac standards, for which three scenarios defined with 10, 36 and 100 nodes were simulated using the NS-2 simulation software. Thus, the results obtained from the simulations showed that the IEEE 802.11ac standard presents better performance and is more efficient than the IEEE 802.11n standard.
