Performance and optimization of wide area wireless links using dedicated hardware

Abstract:

This work aims to evaluate the performance of wide-area wireless links in order to optimize it and compare the results. For this purpose, different techniques and the operation of WAN optimizers were analyzed. Later, a WWAN point to point link was designed and implemented and an optimization solution using dedicated hardware was configured on it. Finally, performance tests using application servers and injection of both TCP and UDP traffic were performed using a real operation environment. With the obtained results it may be concluded that the referred optimization solution satisfies and significantly improves all the performance parameters of the WWAN link for both TCP and UDP transmissions.
