Performance comparison of planar wideband quasi-complementary antennas with dipole and monopole excitation
Abstract:
This paper presents a comparison of quasi-complementary antennas with dipole and monopole excitations to obtain large bandwidth and good radiation properties. In both cases the excitation element is closely placed to an electric conductor with a magnetic slot cut into it. In the structures with dipole excitation, the effect of a notch and a square slot is investigated, whereas the monopole excitation represents only the notch case. The results are compared in terms of simulated S-parameters, input impedances, and total efficiencies. Also surface current distributions and radiation patterns are presented at 2.25 and 4 GHz. © 2013 EurAAP.
