Performance evaluation of OPS-SAP PAPR reduction technique in OFDM systems in a wireless vehicular context
Abstract:
Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks (VANETs) are wireless networks that emerged thanks to advances in wireless technologies and in the automotive industry. Orthogonal Division Multiplexing (OFDM) has been adopted as a candidate for IEEE 802.11p standard due to its advantages. However, one of the most serious issues is the high Peak-to-Average Power Ratio (PAPR) of the transmitted signal. When the signal with high peaks passes through a nonlinear High Power Ampli-er (HPA), the peaks generate distortions in the signal, which degrades the performance. In this paper, we propose the application in these VANETs scenarios of OPS-SAP, a PAPR reduction technique, and its evaluation for an IEEE 802.11p standard. Copyright is held by the owner/author(s).
