Performance evaluation of WiFi technology in conformance with IEEE 802.11b/n/ac and WDS for indoor environments
Abstract:
In this article, we analyze the performance evaluation of WiFi technology in conformance with IEEE 802.11b/n/ac standards and Wireless Distribution System (WDS) for indoor environments with and without obstacles. We present different scenarios by varying the distance between transmitter and receiver. We analyzed the performance of the network by using the intrusive technique of traffic injection with UDP protocol, we varied the number of packets to identify the behavior of the channel with each standard, we considered metrics as throughput, delay, packet loss and jitter. The best results were obtained with network in conformance with the IEEE 802.11ac standard by considering the efficiency in indoor environment without obstacles with an efficiency of 95%. Meanwhile in the scenarios with obstacles, we have different results, in our first scenario, the best efficiency was obtained with network based on the IEEE 802.11n standard with 78%, in the second scenario a 29% of efficiency was obtained with WDS. Finally in the third scenario the best efficiency was obtained with network based on IEEE 802.11b with 17%.
