Performance evaluation of response times for relational, non-relational and newsql databases

Abstract:

One of the biggest challenges in storing data today is the speed of transactions. There are different types of databases that can be used; relational (SQL), non-relational (NoSQL) and NewSQL. Each one of them can be more efficient, if compared in a specific case. This work proposes a comparative study of the performance of these databases, in the same environment, the tests are performed with the same load of writing and reading, depending on the response times of each database; we work with 7’657.800 data. The result shows that MemSQL Helios is more powerful, as there was a difference of 17 and 7 minutes compared to a SQL (PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB) database respectively. Generally speaking, MemSQL Helios is defined as responding in milliseconds and SQL and NoSQL databases respond in seconds.
