Abstract:
Objectives: To determine the influence of the recombinant bovine somatotropin hormone (rbST) on the production and persistence of the milk production curve, taking into consideration the number of calving, in Holstein dairy cows, during the years 2012-2015. Methodology: The study It was carried out in an intensive breeding dairy farm located in the province of Huaura, department of Lima. 607 records of cows with and without application of rbST were evaluated, classified by ordinal calving number. The Incomplete Gamma function proposed by Wood was used to model the lactation curve and the ANOVA to determine differences between the production averages. Results: First calving cows with rbST application had a higher milk production (P< 0.05) compared to the control group without rbST (10 421 kg vs 9 852 kg), no differences were found in second and third calving cows
