Phlebotomine sand flies from Bolivia: Morphological description of Pintomyia (Pifanomyia) veintemillasi n. sp. from the sub-Andean region


Abstract:

Pintomyia (Pifanomyia) veintemillasi n. sp., is described as a new anthropophilic sand y species based on morphological diagnostic characteristics, which allow differentiating it from the closely related species Pintomyia (Pifanomyia) nevesi and Pintomyia (Pifanomyia) maranonensis within the Evansi series. This species was collected in the Marimonos mountain range, at around 900 m altitude in the Municipality of Palos Blancos, Sud Yungas Province, Department of La Paz, Bolivia, and was misidenti ed in the past as Pi.(Pif.) nevesi.
