Abstract:

Phlebotomides from Ecuador and Bolivia: descriptions of Psathyromyia castilloi n. sp. and of Psychodopygus luisleoni n. sp.(Diptera, Psychodidae). Two new species of phlebotomine sand flies are described, only from the males. Psathyromyia castilloi sp. n. belongs to sub-genus Forattiniella, series brasiliensis; it is a species resting in armadillo burrows and is very common in Amazonian Ecuadorian lowlands and subandean region of Alto Beni, in Bolivia. Psychodopygus luisleoni sp. n. belongs to series guyanensis of the important genus Psychodopygus, and is probably an anthropophilic species.
