Photodermatosis

Abstract:

Photodermatoses are defined as those skin diseases in which pathological photosensitivity is the primary phenomenon. Photosensitivity is an abnormal response to UV radiation. Acquired idiopathic photodermatoses are polymorph solar rash, actinic prurigo, chronic actinic dermatitis, solar urticaria and Bazin's hidroa vacciniform. Solar polymorph rash is the most frequent idiopathic photodermatosis, mainly affecting women in the first thirty years of life. The most important in the treatment is to avoid sun exposure and the correct use of photoprotectors. © 2005 Elsevier España S.L y Sociedad Española de Medicina Rural y Generalista (SEMERGEN).
