Physical self-perception, of middle and late adolescence, of the urban tax colleges of the 01d02 district, Ecuador


Abstract:

Background: during adolescence, changes are suffered both anatomical, psychological and social environment that influence the physical perception of the adolescent. Objective: to determine the physical self-perception of the adolescents of the public schools of the district 01D02, Ecuador 2018. Methodology: descriptive, cross-sectional study. The population was 8.705 adolescents, who were studying between 10th and 3rd year of high school in the 01D02 district of Cuenca, period 2017 - 2018. The sample was 151 students; The CAF physical self-perception questionnaire, validated by Goñi, was used. Sociodemographic variables, BMI, CAF and their dimensions were considered. The descriptive analysis was carried out with the values of frequency and percentage, mean and SD. Results: The mean age was 16.37±1.42 years; 58.9% were men; resident. They indicate that they sometimes have more ability than people of their age practicing sports (46.4%), claim to be in good physical shape (35.1%), almost always excel in activities that require physical strength (35.8%), physically deny feeling worse than others (58.3%), so they always indicate feeling happy (70.9%), always feeling happy with their body image (44.4%). Conclusion: adolescents’ physical self-perception proved to be good in relation to its dimensions.
