Pizarro did not arrive in Peru during an El Nino year

Abstract:

A careful study of the reports of the eyewitnesses of the arrival of Pizarro in Peru leads to reject the hypothesis that 1531-32 were El Nino years, as proposed in a recent paper by Quinn and collaborators. During the previous attempt of the Conquistadores to reach Peru, in 1525-26, no clearcut evidence has been found that an El Nino event was occurring. -English summary
