Análisis de porosidad en tres zonas del río Tomebamba y su influencia en la percepción de los usuarios del espacio público en las márgenes del río

Abstract:

This project is centered on the relationship that exists between the porosity of the first built line and the perception of public space users. This study is based on the understanding that the first built line of the continuous profile is formed by the wall of the building enclosure or the front of the building, and separates the public from the private space. This investigation is linked to the project Rio Urbano (Urban River), developed by the research group Llactalab-sustainable cities. As a reference for this study, we investigated five areas of the Tomebamba River, which had already been analyzed by Llactalab in previous studies. We studied the level of porosity by indicators that relate factors such as: height, visual permeability and accesses in the first built line of each buildings that was under investigation. During the investigation stage of the physical characteristics of the first built line, we used the application ODK (Open Data Kit), which allowed us to generate a data base, that was later linked to the SIG program. Regarding the perception analysis, we opted to apply the Q methodology, which allowed us to study subjective and opinion, helping us have a more thorough understanding of our investigation and allowing us to define likes and preferences in the operating categories. Finally, we defined different design criteria for the first built line, which served to promote the social relationships between the residents and pedestrians, according to the results of the analysis in the correlation between porosity and perception.
